One of my favorite local Facebook pages to follow (after KICK's and Y101's, of course), is the WCIL Scanner Radio page. Keeps me up to date on goings-ons or crimes that may be happening in the area. And then this showed up yesterday:

In addition to being a good source of information, it's also a source for chuckles. A runner was running backwards and ended up colliding with a pole. As one will do when not watching where one is going. But if your eyes are focused on a direction not where you're traveling at a high rate of speed, you'll come to a short, sudden, occasionally painful stop. That's true on foot. That's true in cars. That's true in every mode of transportation.

I don't know why this guy was running backwards. Did he think he'd go back in time, like in Superman? Is this the hot new trend, replacing the Tide Pod challenge? Is it some weird workout regime that actually gets results? The world may never know!

But we do know that he's fine. A follow up comment from WCIL Scanner Radio: "Subject is OK, he is going to start running forwards."

I think that's just good advice for life. It's important to know where you came from, but it's important to know where you're going. So in life, as you do in running, face forward, and bring me that horizon.

But now, a song for our temporarily fallen friend.
