Quincy Comedy Favorite, Longhorn the Comedian, Returning to The State Room October 25

You could call Longhorn the Comedian a man on a mission. What the mission is, however, might surprise you. Once you get to know a little about the man you'll soon learn that comedy provides a great outlet to help spread the word about his biggest passion -- his love for his country and his never-ending gratitude for veterans.

For Vernon Davis -- a.k.a. Longhorn the Comedian -- that gratitude has led to a personal crusade to personally thank as many veterans as he can for their service to their country. His website is www.thanku4yourservice.com.

"We never know what tomorrow will bring," Longhorn said in reference to his comedy career. "In the meantime, my plan is to continue to grow my mission. If I stopped doing comedy tomorrow, this mission would live on. It's important to me that we thank every veteran that we can, everyday, everywhere."

Longhorn brings his comedy act to The State Room in Quincy on Friday, October 25, at 8 p.m. as part of the LMAO Comedy Series, presented by Y101, KICK-FM and Coors Light. Comedian Tucker will open the festivities. It will be Longhorn's second headlining appearance in the comedy series and his sixth visit to Quincy overall as a performer.

"I love performing in Quincy," Longhorn said, "mainly because I have no warrants in Quincy." On a more serious note he added, "I love the people of Quincy. Ever since the first time I came there to perform they (the fans) have been nothing but great to me. They also appreciate live comedy and entertainment."

If you've seen Longhorn perform before, you know it's quite an experience. If you haven't seen him before, imagine laughing non-stop for at least 45 minutes. He has a unique way of making people laugh hysterically while spreading positive messages that he drops in his material. It's almost subliminal. After composing yourself following another hilarious bit, you find yourself nodding in agreement with the positive message he just delivered. "Comedy you can use," Longhorn calls it.

Tickets for the show are $10 for general admission and $15 for V.I.P. -- which is front and center seating with a dedicated wait staff and some giveaways from Coors Light. Tickets can be purchased in Quincy at Bailey's Coffee House and Fudge Shoppe, 36th & Broadway (near El Rancherito); Second String Music at 5th & Maine; or in Hannibal at Java Jive, 211 N. Main. The show is open only to those 21 and older.

"I really try to bring something that everyone can relate to and feel like I was talking to them and not over or around them," Longhorn said. "When I perform in Quincy, the people make me feel like I am performing in Las Vegas with my clothes on. Every time I come, I make a new friend and earn some new fans."
