It's time to gather up all that junk you have been wanting to get rid of as Republic Services has again been contracted by the City of Quincy to conduct the annual citywide cleanup. This year's event will be held tomorrow, September 24, from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. The City of Quincy offers this annual event to assist Quincy residents only in disposing of unwanted items that are not typically collected with weekly residential service. This year's event will once again take place at the lot on Front Street and Payson Avenue.

According to the City of Quincy, to access the disposal site, residents can use Payson Avenue starting at Sixth Street and head west towards Front Street. The Quincy Police Department and employees of Republic Services will direct vehicles to the disposal area. Residents will be required to show proof of address to gain access to the disposal area.

Although employees of Republic Services will be on hand to help residents dispose of bulky or large items, residents will be directed to dispose of most smaller items themselves. Last year, 408 tons of material were disposed of during this 10 hour event.

No tires, electronics, yard waste, liquids or petroleum products will be accepted. Refrigerated appliances must have certification that the refrigerant has been reclaimed.

More details on the City-Wide Cleanup can be seen at the city's website of www.quincyil.gov.
