QPD Reminds Residents To Enjoy A Safe 4th Of July

The Quincy Police Department reminds residents that they will be strictly enforcing laws regarding fireworks. 

Illinois state law already makes it illegal to possess most types of fireworks. In addition, the Quincy City Council passed an amendment to the city ordinance making discharging or even possession of fireworks illegal.  Penalties can range from simple confiscation to arrests.

Sparklers are legal in Illinois and are often considered the safest type of fireworks, but sparklers are frequently associated with injury among children, ages 4 and under.

Quincy Police encourage everyone to enjoy the holiday, but leave the fireworks to the experts.
