Now this is funny. It's usually standard operating procedure for radio announcers to take pictures with performers when they appear at local concerts. Our former night guy, Kit Stevens, found this old picture from the Adams County Fair (we think from around 1996 or 1997). We immediately recognized all the former KICK-FM personalities, but we couldn't figure out who they were taking their picture with!

What makes the whole situation even more silly is that the photo is autographed, but we couldn't make out the name, either! Kit finally revealed that the country singer in the picture is Michael Peterson, who hit No. 1 with "From Here to Eternity," and also charted the Top 10 singles "Drink, Swear, Steal and Lie" and "Too Good to be True."

We haven't heard a whole lot about Michael Peterson in recent years. A quick check of his website shows that he is still in the business, and that he will be performing in Vegas this June. His site also says that Peterson, as a songwriter, has had his material recorded by hall of fame artists in the country, rock, pop and gospel genres. He has also contributed stories to the Chicken Soup for the Soul series. Who knew?

This year's Adams County Fair will take place July 29-August 4. Concert night is August 1, when The Voice winner Craig Wayne Boyd and country up-and-comer Eric Paslay will perform. Grandstand seating for the concert is free with your $10 admission to the fair. Track seating tickets are an additional $10 and can be purchased beginning Saturday, June 6, at the Fair Board office on the fairgrounds, or at Farm and Home Supply in Quincy.
