During many of these recent hot days, I can't tell you how thankful I am for air conditioning.Oh sure, I understand, there are many who don't have A/C.  Some of you prefer not to have air conditioning, in order to better deal with the temperature extremes. I am not one of those people.

I was curious about when air conditioning was first developed.  Just how long has A/C been around?  In 1902, the first modern electrical air conditioning unit was invented by Willis Carrier.  I can't believe it took my parents almost 75 years before we ever had it in our home. Back when I was a kid, most people still used window fans. I honestly can't imaging how the "pioneers" got by without it, or even a fan, for that matter.

One of the first things I did, when my family and I did a renovation to our home was to install central air.  I admit, during the hot summer months, it's a race to see if I can make it from the air conditioned place that I work, to the car where I crank up the A/C and then into the house when I get home without breaking a sweat.

I'm such a wimp.
