The famous Oktoberfest, the one over in Germany, begins tomorrow (9/16). In about an hour and a half, as of this writing, to be exact. But if you, like me, didn't feel like heading all the way to Munich and spending two weeks in a drunken stupor... actually why didn't I do that? That sounds like a good way to kill two weeks. I've got time off saved.... Maybe next year.

Where was I? Oh yeah! Oktoberfest. If you can't make it to Munich this year, Quincy's own Oktoberfest is coming up on October 7th at Dick Brothers Brewery at 9th and York, hosted by the Rotary Club. The fifth annual celebration of German culture will feature live music from the Heidelberg German Band and Bolzen Beer Band, brewery tunnel and cavern tours, a 0.2K (not a typo), delicious food and of course... BEER! New this year will be Calftown Trolley Tours from noon to 4pm and a brand new tunnel that hasn't been open to the public in 80 years. For a full schedule of events, or to buy advanced tickets, check out the Rotary's webpage here.

You know how you bought lederhosen, an Alpine hat and a dirndl, swearing you'd be able to wear them some day? Now is that someday. Well... Saturday, October 7th is.

See you at Oktoberfest!
