Officials Hold Press Conference on Quincy Storm
A number of city, county and utility officials were on hand for a news conference at midday Tuesday with information on the severe storm that swept through Quincy Monday night.
According to Adams County Management Director John Simon, the straight line winds that hit the city around 6 p.m. Tuesday impacted the entire community, downing trees and power lines.
Quincy Mayor Kyle Moore said city crews are focusing on removing debris.
According to Ameren Vice President Ron Pate, the effort to restore power began as soon as the storm left town.
Initially, the storm knocked out power to about 35,000 Ameren customers in Quincy. By mid-afternoon Tuesday, that number was down to 14,000, with crews working around the clock until power is restored to everyone in Quincy.
