This is gonna come out all wrong. What's new, right? What do I ever say that doesn't end up sounding...um...wrong? Oh well, I haven't let that stop me from expressing thoughts in the past and I'm not gonna start now. This is one of those rare times when my job sucks. My youngest daughter's first day of school is today and I have to miss it because I'm on the radio in the morning. (Note: this is ironically the reason my boss's day sucks every day)

As a father of five (about to be six), I've been through this before but it never ceases to be a wild mixture of emotions. I'm sad because I was there when she was born and can remember her grabbing my finger wondering why her father looked so strange. But, at the same time, I am so excited for her. She is so full of energy and wonder and (unlike her dad) really enjoys learning new things.

I don't have any profound thoughts to share.  But, I'd be lying to you if I didn't admit that I would rather be someplace else this morning instead of on the radio.  You, the KICK-FM listener have been so awesome to me over the years, but this morning I'd rather be watching a little redheaded girl get on a bus and beginning a new chapter in her life.

I love you, Grace.  Now please get an education so you can avoid a career in radio.  :)
