The mother of a three-month-old victim of alleged child abuse has been arrested on a warrant charging her with endangering the welfare of a child.

According to the Hannibal Police Department, 23-year-old Keviante J. Guyton of Hannibal was arrested on December 5 at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis, where the child is receiving treatment for injuries suffered from the alleged abuse.

Hannibal Police say they were dispatched by Marion County 9-1-1 to Hannibal Regional Hospital in response to a child abuse case involving the infant on December 2. The child's father, 23-year-old Eugene R. Melton was arrested and charged with the Class B Felony of Abuse or Neglect of a Child with Serious Physical Injury.

Melton was taken to the Marion County Jail. Bond was set at $100,000. Guyton's bond is set at $50,000.
