With the summer heat here in full force, many people are looking for a fun thing to do this Friday night in air conditioned comfort. A night of laughs and cold beverages should provide the perfect mix to beat the summer heat.

The 3rd installment of the LMAO Comedy Series, presented by Y101, KICK-FM and Coors Light, is Friday night at 8 p.m. at The State Room, 434 South 8th St., Quincy. Doors open at 7 p.m.

Jeremy Nunes is the headliner for the event. Nunes left the rural, Southern Illinois life behind to explore the comedy scene in Chicago, where he performed at Second City and iO Comedy Theaters and developed the "front porch" comedy that is now the staple of his act. He has appeared in "The Break-Up", "Last Comic Standing" and many other shows, and he's heard frequently on Sirius Satellite and ESPN Radio. Audiences are treated to observations of rural life, tales of finding trouble with his friend "Toes", songs and impressions, and plenty of stories about his wisecracking dad.

The feature act is Chris Speyrer and he knows comedy to say the least. He opened his own comedy club, Mason City Limits, in Mason City, IL, in 2006. Speyrer's sarcastic irreverence has entertained crowds from Atlanta, GA, to Zanesville, OH. He has shared the stage with comedy icons Costaki Economopoulos, Dave Chappelle, Ron White, Elaine Boosler and many more.

Quincy favorite Phil Quevillon will be the host for the evening. He is a veteran of the Quincy comedy scene and is currently the emcee for the Dark River Derby Coalition -- Quincy's roller derby team.

Tickets ($10-$20) are on sale at Second String Music, 5th & Maine, and Bailey's Coffee House, 307 N. 36th, both in Quincy; and also at Java Jive, 211 N. Main in Hannibal. Tickets will also be available the door at The State Room Friday evening starting at 7 p.m.
