You can add “educator” to Keith Urban’s resume. The country singer-songwriter and guitarist has agreed to take part in a program in which he will teach a group of Nashville-area high school students.

CMT reports that Urban will teach 190 juniors and seniors for about 75 minutes on Sept. 6 as part of an educational program launched by the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum. The Australian-born country music star will instruct a group of arts and music students from four schools about the craft of songwriting, his musical influences, his creative inspirations, and what the job of a music performer is really like. He will also take questions and play a couple of songs.

The event is the first all access offering from the Hall of Fame, which hopes to host more such events in the future. It will take place inside the Ford Theater at the museum in downtown Nashville.

Urban is a longtime supporter of the Hall of Fame. His annual We’re All for the Hall concerts have raised $1.5 million for the institution since 2009. This ‘teacher for a day’ event is not open to the public, but it will stream live online at both the Hall of Fame web site and Keith Urban’s official site beginning at 10AM CT.

Urban is staying busy with another new side gig, too — he recently accepted an offer to judge the upcoming season of ‘American Idol.’
