Yep, it’s still going on. If you’ve missed out on the ongoing mini-drama that is Ashton Kutcher and Justin Moore (with a touch of Miranda Lambert thrown in for kicks), allow us to summarize for you. At the ACM Awards on April 1, Kutcher got onstage to present Lambert with an award wearing an over-the-top red Western jacket and cowboy hat. He sang an unimpressive few bars of George Strait‘s ‘I Cross My Heart,’ which was a delight to the crowd, but not so much to a few country stars.

Following the awards show, Lambert sparked chatter on Twitter, simply asking if Kutcher was actually making a joke out of the genre. Cue Justin Moore, who hit the social media broadcasting site to say that he was definitely not impressed with Kutcher’s little performance, calling it ‘distasteful’ and saying it made a mockery of the genre he and others try to uphold.

Hoping to clear the air, the ‘Two and a Half Men’ actor too responded via Twitter, assuring the country world that he had no such intentions and even congratulating Lambert on her big wins. Still, Moore stood by his original statement, further pushing Kutcher’s buttons. It worked. Kutcher finally tweeted back on Friday, calling out Moore by name and asking that he stop muddying his love of classic country.

“I grew up idolizing the style of the Highway Men, Hank, Merle, Patsy Cline, Dolly. Starting to wonder if new country just doesn’t get it,” he wrote, later adding, “Justin Moore calls it mocking I call it respecting your Elders. Maybe that’s old fashion. Know when to fold em brother….”

Moore was quick on the defense, and came back directly tagging Kutcher to tweet, “go listen to alan Jackson ‘gone country’ brother…you can’t hang with me on old country buddy. Not gonna happen…JM.”

We’ll see if Kutcher comes back again or lets this way-too-dead horse lie. While Moore is none too pleased with the actor, others in the country world like Lee Brice have come out saying they thought Kutcher’s performance was innocent — and even funny.

For now, it looks like we’ve got an old fashioned shoot-out on our hands, but instead of brandishing pistols, these guys are sticking to 140-character bullets to see who’s the last man standing.
