Men and women alike packed the Oakley Lindsey Center to honor women in the Tri-States at Ladies Night Out on October 14. The event was headlined by a keynote address from Jenn Nobis-Dancer who is co-owner of QTown Crossfit and a former professional soccer player.

The address was part comedy and part motivation. Early on the crossfit athlete, who was featured on CMT's Broken Skull Challenge, joked about her fear of public speaking despite being an athlete who played in front of thousands. As the speech developed, Nobis-Dancer encouraged the audience to take advantage of their time and try new things.

"Take yourself out of your comfort zone and move forward. Find your 90 minutes and continue learning. Cause you will be successful," Nobis-Dancer said.

Ladies Night Out also featured an award ceremony to highlight area businesswomen in two categories: women under the age of 40 who have exemplified quality business acumem ("Rising Stars") and women over the age of 40 who have demonstrated strong business skills for a long period of time ("Shining Stars"). There were 5 nominees for each category that were selected for the award by community members.

Jayne Pieper took home the "Rising Star" award for her work in Sales at Blessing Health Systems. Denise Sangoi earned the "Shining Star" award for her work as an occupational therapist at Blessing Hospital. The evening was capped off with a dueling piano performance.
