Jana Kramer Reveals Lessons She Has Learned From Blake Shelton

Backed by a successful country music career and a winning stint coaching on ‘The Voice,’ any breakthrough artist could learn a ton just by watching Blake Shelton do his thing. Rising star Jana Kramer recently dished that she’s learned a lot while touring with the ‘Boys ‘Round Here’ hitmaker.

In an interview with Radio.com, Kramer admitted that she pays attention to how Shelton interacts with the crowd to get inspiration for her own live sets.

“He’s just so good with talking to them and the way that he expresses his songs and shows his emotions,” she said.

Kramer has also taken note of the way Shelton acts when he’s offstage, too.

“He’s fantastic,” she added. “He’s energetic. And the way he treats his crew is very respectful. I like that.”

Kramer just joined up with Shelton’s Ten Times Crazier Tour at his July 19 show in Virginia Beach. While watching Shelton’s set closely on that first night, Kramer found herself tearing up while he performed ‘Over You,’ the song he and Miranda Lambert wrote about Shelton’s older brother who was killed in a car crash.

”He was singing ‘Over You,’ and I was crying,” she admitted.

Kramer has a few poignant songs of her own climbing up the charts. Her debut single, ‘Why Ya Wanna,’ has sold more than 1.4 million digital downloads, which is more than any other female artist in the past five years. Her latest hit, ‘I Hope It Rains,’ appears to be on the same path to success.

While Kramer didn’t write ‘I Hope It Rains,’ she chose to record it because she can truly relate to the story the song tells.

“I’ll never sing something that I’ve never been through,” she said. “So even if I didn’t write it, I have to have at least experienced it. For this single, when I got it I was like, ‘This is perfect!’ I never want to be too mean with my songs, but with ‘I Hope It Rains’ it was definitely somewhere in the middle with being sassy but also a little class in there as well. It was a good blend for me and who I want to be perceived as an artist.”

Since Kramer will be playing on Shelton’s tour through early October, it sounds like she’ll have plenty of time to learn from the hilarious country crooner’s ways. Let’s just hope that she doesn’t adopt his tweeting methods.
