For those of us lucky enough to get a tax refund this year, the question of how to spend it becomes an interesting one.

Are you a responsible adult who applies any refund money you get toward your debt or the necessities of life? (Not to say you're irresponsible if you don't) Are you more likely to put towards something big that you really want, like maybe a vacation getaway? Maybe you'll just blow it on beer. I won't judge you if you do.

Bankrate found in a poll they conducted that the largest percentage of folks getting a tax refund will use it for "grown up things." That may be boring but it's probably a good idea too. Here are their findings.

  • 30% will use a refund to pay down debt
  • 28% will save or invest the money
  • 26% will use it on necessities
  • 7% will use it for a vacation or shopping spree
  • 9% will use it on something else, or they don't know

How do you plan to use any refund you might get? I expect to get a refund this year, so I should be able to buy a 6 pack at least. Maybe it will be enough for a bag of chips too. A guy can dream.
