With summer officially arriving at 5:51 a.m. Saturday, a decidedly summer-like weather week appears to be ahead for northeast Missouri and western Illinois.

National Weather Service forecasters expect high temperatures at or near the 90 degree mark Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and then settle into the mid-80s through Sunday. Low temps will be in the low 70s the next three nights, and the upper 60s the rest of the week.

And, as has been the pattern for the past few weeks, there is an almost daily chance of showers and thunderstorms. The NWS calls for a 30 percent chance of rain Monday afternoon, with a daily chance of precipitation Wednesday through Sunday.

June has already been a wetter than average month in Hannibal. The Filter Plant reports 3.65" of rain so fair, which is about two-tenths of inch better than average.
