(UNDATED)—High water is on the way along the Mississippi River. The National Weather Service says the Mississippi will crest Tuesday at Hannibal at 26.3 feet—just over ten feet above technical flood stage.

The National Weather Service says the forecast is heavily dependent on the exact amount of rain over the next 36 hours. They caution that the actual crest forecast may be substantially higher or lower.   Hannibal Emergency Management Director John Hark says Hannibal’s flood gates will be installed tomorrow(TH).

This morning’s forecast also calls for a crest at 26 feet early Monday morning at Quincy. The river stage is at 18.37 this morning.  The Mississippi is expected to crest at Lock and Dam #20 at Canton at 21.8 feet early Monday morning.

The Mississippi at Louisiana is expected to reach a crest of 25 feet early Tuesday morning.

The Mississippi at Clarksville is expected to reach a crest of 35 feet early Monday morning.
