Here’s Missouri’s Next ‘Free Fishing’ Weekend
Cast your line and score a catch, no license necessary in Missouri the weekend of June 9 and 10. This a great time for out-of-state fishing enthusiasts to test their poles in the Show Me State waters.
The Missouri Department of Conservation holds Free Fishing Weekend every year to show off the state's one million acres of surface waters. Though you still have to follow all the regulations, you do not need to buy a license to fish that weekend.
If you haven't visited Mark Twain Lake, this is a great time to hook the thick populations of crappie, catfish and bass.
To celebrate National Fishing and Boating Week, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers at Mark Twain Lake will host Kid's Fishing Day on Saturday, June 9. The Missouri Department of Conservation will supply all the equipment and prizes. This is open to the first 25 children between the areas of five to twelve who register. Call the Mark Twain Lake (hyperlink) Project Office at 573-735-4097 to register or to find out more about Missouri's Free Fishing Weekend.
