[Update] A warrant has been issued by the 10th Judicial Circuit Court charging Mark Scott with the Class B Felony of Assault 1st and a Felony charge of Armed Criminal Action. Scotts’ bond was set at $100,000.00 cash only. Scott remains in the Marion county jail.
[Original Story] At 12:08 p.m. Thursday afternoon, officers of the Hannibal Police Department responded to a report of a stabbing at a residence in the 100 block of S. 7th. When officers arrived on scene, they discovered the suspect, Mark Scott (58), of Quincy IL, was upset with the 48 year old victim (of Hannibal) over an alleged altercation that occurred a few days prior. According to witnesses, Scott approached the victim and cut him with a box cutter razor, causing an injury to the victims’ neck.
Scott was apprehended, without incident, a short distance from the scene at 12:12 p.m. Scott was charged with Assault 1st degree and Armed Criminal Action and released to the Marion County Jail on a 24 hour hold pending a warrant. The victim was transported to the Hannibal Regional Hospital by Marion County Ambulance.
A criminal charge is merely an allegation and the defendant is, of course, presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
