Hannibal Man Faces Robbery Charges

A Hannibal man is in custody on robbery charges following an incident Monday evening in the 1300 block of Owens Avenue. Hannibal Police responding to a robbery in progress report were told a home owner discovered a man in an upstairs bedroom. After a short struggle the suspect fled on foot. Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers were alerted and 25-year-old Jeffery Dietle was apprehended along Route O and turned over to Hannibal officers.

A search of Dietle at the time of the arrest turned up a pistol, a knife and other items belonging to the victim. Dietle was booked on charges of first degree robbery and armed criminal action. He was taken to the Marion County Jail.

The home owner sustained minor injuries in the scuffle but declined medical attention.
