Comic Con! What comes to mind when you hear that? The big mecca of nerdery in San Diego every July? Or possibly New York Comic Con coming up in October? Maybe even Wizard World St. Louis April 5th. Those are some of the big ones, that always leap to mind when mentioning Comic Conventions. And now a new one will join their ranks: Big River Comic Convention in Hannibal.

Yep! Hannibal is getting a Comic Convention on April 13th at the Admiral Coontz Armory. For those of you unfamiliar, Comic Conventions are a way to celebrate our collective love of superheroes, sci-fi and fantasy. Conventions connect us with our favorite writers and artists, maybe introduce us to some new talent, or new stories we hadn't encountered before, and give us an opportunity to dress up as our favorite characters. They're a lot of fun. They really are. And I'm glad Hannibal is launching one in earnest.

As it's still almost seven months off, details are sparse at the moment. But they've already secured one professional cosplayer for the convention, and I'm sure with Wizard World happening in St. Louis just the week prior, they may be able to secure some solid talent from the comic book world. I'm looking forward to this. To stay up-to-date on the Big River Comic Convention, follow them on Facebook.
