The Hannibal Jaycees will have their annual "NFL Punt, Pass & Kick Competition" on Friday, September 19.  The event begins at 5:00 p.m. at the Hannibal High School practice field.

The NFL Punt, Pass & Kick program is a national skills competition for boys and girls between the ages of 6 and 15, to compete separately against their peers. Kids in five separate age divisions (6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, and 14-15) compete against each other in punting, passing and place kicking.  The program is free, both to organizers hosting a local competition, and to all participants. Local winners will advance to the sectional competition, and then have the chance to move on to the team championship level and  the national finals. Competition rules are available online.

Also taking part in the event will be Scott Anderson, former NFL player for the Minnesota Vikings, and owner of a Hannibal roofing business.  Anderson’s football career began at Hannibal High School.  He then played for Mizzou before being drafted by the Vikings in 1974.  In February of 2011, Anderson was inducted into the University of Missouri’s Hall of Fame.

Entry forms are available from Kyle Mack at Shelter Insurance, at his office at 302 East Main Cross Street in Palmyra. You can also get an entry form by calling Kami Harsell with the Hannibal Jaycees at 573-795-6233.  Entry in the competition is completely free. Spectators are welcome.
