Hannibal’s floodgates are coming out in time for National Tom Sawyer Days.

Hannibal Emergency Management Director John Hark says work crews will remove all five flood gates along the Hannibal riverfront starting at 7 a.m. Thursday.

As of late Wednesday morning, the Mississippi River at Hannibal was at 19.29 feet at Hannibal with a steady fall forecast by the National Weather Service Advance Hydrologic Prediction Service.

The river is expected to be at 18.1 at 7 a.m. Thursday and back below the 16 foot technical flood stage by Sunday morning.
