The Telegraph (a newspaper I don't read) recently reported that jogging in the forest is twice as good for you as the gym.  I'm guessing my daily ritual of kicking paper footballs though my headphones here in the studio doesn't count.  Darn.  Here's what the researchers from Glascow University found:

Researchers found that anything from a stroll in the park to a run through woodland can have a positive effect on people suffering from depression and anxiety.

The study also showed that the positive effect on people's mental health was 50 per cent more than they might expect from going to the gym.

Do you workout?  If so, do you go to a local gym or have you tried running/walking by the river.  What about Moorman Park in Quincy or Riverview Park in Hannibal?

If you are ready to drink the Koolaid and believe that running/walking outdoors is the way to go, might I suggest that you consider participating in the Hannibal Cannibal on Saturday, July 7th.  You can burn off calories and the stress while you pass up and down Lover's Leap and watch me ride by in a golf cart drinking a milkshake.
