Things aren't looking good for another major retailer in the area.

According to WGEM, Shopko could soon file for bankruptcy in the near future. And as we've seen with previous bankruptcy cases, it's not uncommon for businesses to face store closures. In December it was announced that Shopko would be losing their in-store pharmacies.

No word yet on the fate of the Quincy store, but the likes of JC Penney, Sears, Bergner's, K-Mart, and others have not fared very well as of late. Quincy is slowly becoming a ghost town.

Yes, we have several business that are doing great and we'll see even more in 2019 (including McAlister's Deli and Firehouse Subs). However, we're hopeful that Shopko can stay open in town.

I will admit, I'm an online shopper from time to time. But I do make a point to visit local stores. If we as a community continue to take our business elsewhere, there will be nothing left in town
