When most of us think of typical August weather in northeast Missouri and western Illinois, we think of stifling heat with rain coming seldom, if ever. The first half of August 2014 is not shaping up that way.

Following a week of as much as four inches of rain and highs in the 80s, more moisture and more un-August-like temperatures are forecast for the coming week.

The National Weather Service says scattered showers and thunderstorms are a possibility Monday, with the best chance around midday. The next chance of rain is projected to be with us Thursday night through Sunday, with the best chance Friday night.

Meanwhile, our uncharacteristically moderate temperatures continue. Highs from the upper 70s to mid 80s are predicted through Sunday, Lows in the coming week are expected to range from 55 Tuesday night to 67 Saturday night.
