A Celebrity Pour fundraiser will be held to benefit Quincy’s Soap Box Derby at Hy-Vee’s at 36th and Broadway on Friday, June 29th. The event will be held beginning at 5 pm and will run to 10 pm.

A benefit for Jessie Barnes, who is fighting stage 4 cancer, will be held at the Paloma Community Center on Saturday, June 30. There will be big prizes, auctions, a bags tournament and food. The event will begin at noon.

The 2018 Hannibal Cannibal Walk Run during National Tom Sawyer Days will be held on Saturday, July 7th. The Run features 15K, 10K, 5K and fun runners at 7am. The leisure walk will be held at 7:05 that morning. The cost is $30 per person between 6-19 and 7-4 and $35 from 7-5 thru 7-7. Marion County M*A*S*H (Missouri AHEC Science and Health) camp will be held on July 19 at Hannibal LaGrange University and July 20 at Hannibal Regional Hospital. The camp, to be held from 8am to 4pm both days, is a two-day “hands-on” science and health summer day camp for students entering 6th, 7th, and 8th grades. The camp is aimed to spark an interest in healthcare and science prior to high school coursework. Camp instructors include health professionals, health educators, and faculty from Marion County. Students will participate in a variety of activities including chemistry/biology labs, scrub/dissection labs, Emergency Medical Service demonstrations, hospital tours, and other healthcare career activities. The cost is $45 if you register by July 5 and includes meals, activities and a t-shirt. Karen Peck and New River will be performing in concert at The Historic Golden Windmill in Golden, IL. on Friday, July 6th, at 7:00pm. They are one of Southern Gospels Top Groups with 18 #1 hits and numerous other awards, including 6 dove awards. Everyone is invited and a free will love offering will be collected. The Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church will be holding a homemade Ice Cream Social on Saturday, July 7th from 3:30 to 7:30 at the church located one mile south of the Quincy Airport on the Plainville Blacktop. The menu features Maid-rites, hot dogs, strawberries, homemade ice cream, homemade pies and cakes for a free will offering with carry outs available. The church is air conditioned and handicapped accessible.

The Big Creek Presbyterian Church in Rensselaer, Missouri will be holding a free ice cream social on Saturday, July 7 from 6 to 8 pm. The event will also feature homemade pie and cake. Everyone is welcomed.

St. Joseph’s Ice Cream Social will be held on Sunday, July 8 from 4pm on. In addition to homemade ice cream there will be a full menu of sandwiches, pie and cakes. The day will also feature outdoor games, a quilt drawing, door prizes and bingo. The church is located at 1435 East 1500 Street in Quincy.

Meals on Wheels is holding a Cook’s Night Off event on the third Thursday of the month throughout 2018. It’s a fundraiser for the Meals on Wheels program as they offer eat-in, carry-out, or drive thru meals for just $7 each. All meals include either Fried Chicken or Roast Beef, two side dishes, bread and dessert. The hours for each 3rd Thursday of each month are 4 to 6pm at the Senior Center at 639 York Street.

A benefit for Barbara Merkel, who is fighting Cancer, will be held at the Monsigner Farishon Hall in Palmyra on Saturday, August 18th. The event will begin at 4 pm and will feature a free will donation dine-in or carry-out dinner and a live auction at 7.
