Check Your Weiners! Hot Dog Recall Announced Ahead of Memorial Day
Maybe you’ve already hit the store to guarantee you had everything in advance of your Memorial Day cook-out. Didn’t want to wait till the last minute, get to the store, and all they have left is a single pack of cheddar-wursts and some veggie burgers. And no buns, so you have to get like… bagels or whatever.
But all your pre-planning may have to go in the trash, especially if you stocked up on John Morrell & Co. hot dogs, specifically Nathan’s and Curtis Beefmaster Brands. The USDA issued a Class II recall notice for hot dogs manufactured in January, for containing little metal shards.
What you’re looking for are, according to the recall notice which you can read in full here: “14 oz “Nathan’s Skinless 8 Beef Franks,” with a Use By date of Aug. 19, 2017, and the 16 oz “Curtis Beef Master Beef Franks,” with a Use By date of June 15, 2017. The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 296” on the side of the package. These items were shipped to retail locations nationwide.”
