Fire late Friday morning brought Hannibal firefighters to 615 Grand. Dianna Melton was home at the time. She describes how she discovered the fire.

I was in my bedroom and I was watching a movie. I got up and I went to the kitchen and I was going to get something to drink. Well, I walked across my bedroom floor, I walked across my dining room floor and none of the the floors got hot. I was barefooted; I would have felt it. When I went back into my bedroom I seen smoke coming up through the floor board. Not no fire, just smoke. My son was still asleep, so I ran in and told him, 'Eric, get up, the house is on fire!'

Melton and her son escaped without injury along with the family's pet dog. Grand Avenue was closed in the area as firefighters extinguished the flames. Cause of the fire is undetermined at this point.
