USA Today is among the national news outlets that have picked up the story of the mysterious priest that appeared on the scene of a head-on collision Sunday near Center, Missouri.

A 19-year-old woman, Katie Lentz of Quincy, was trapped in her car following the accident. According to initial reports from Rajah Maples at ConnectTriStates.com:

About an hour into the rescue, Katie asked rescue workers to pray out loud with her. That's when a priest appeared out of no where [sic]."

Efforts to identify and locate the priest have so far been unsuccessful. Many are speculating that the priest was actually an angel, including New London Fire Chief Raymond Reed, according to the USA Today article:

'I think it's a miracle,' Reed said. 'I would say whether it was an angel that was sent to us in the form of a priest or a priest that became our angel, I don't know. Either way, I'm good with it.' - USA Today

The Washington Times has also picked up the story, as has Yahoo!, the Huffington Post, the Daily Mail in the UK, several television stations and other media organizations.

KHQA has posted on ConnectTriStates.com a sketch of what the priest looked like. Here is video from their coverage of the story.
