If you're thinking about getting a pet cat in the near future, visit the local shelters to see if they have one you can take in. Ask about fostering a cat for a while as a sort of trial run. In Quincy, you can check out the Quincy Humane Society, or you can check out The Quincy Animal Shelter, for more info on adopting a pet.
