Archer Daniels Midland is donating 20 acres of land north of Locust to the Quincy School District.

School board officials say the 20 acre site just west of the post office will eventually house a 67-thousand square foot elementary school building. No definte time line for construction and opening of the new school at that location was announced although plans are to finish work on the new building planned at the current site of Monroe School first.

School district officials have been looking at a variety of locations around town in recent months for school construction following passage last November of an 89-million dollar bond issue to finance several school renovation and construction projects including ongoing work at Quincy High School, the project at the Monroe School location and the project announced this morning in the 3300 block of Locust.
