One of my favorite episodes of The Office is when Michael, Dwight, and Andy are doing parkour through the office and eventually onto the roof of a delivery truck (it does not go well but it sure is hilarious). I've tried recruiting my co-workers to do the same, but sadly I've been turned down time and time again.

Anyway, you can imagine my excitement when I found out that Quincy's Gem City Gymnastics is bringing a parkour demo to their gym. And if it goes well, they might just bring it here permanently.

The FREE parkour demo is open to anyone age seven or older including adults (which is a dream come true). For those of you unfamiliar with the fad, parkour is described as "using obstacles as opportunity". You’ve probably seen people doing parkour as they jump from one object to another and somehow get their bodies over whatever object is in their path--sometimes gracefully and sometimes not.

This demo is to gauge interest on how well a parkour class would fare in Quincy. So if you're interested, the demo is September 30 at Gem City Gymnastics. If there is enough interest, the folks over at Gem City Gymnastics will add it to their curriculum in Spring 2019.

This (as I am sure you know) does take a lot of skill and practice and it can be pretty dangerous if you don't know what you're doing. So instead of trying it in random places and risking injury, you can try it in a safe environment and learn the correct way to do it. And whatever you do, don't take ANY advice from Michael, Dwight, and Andy, or you will end up jumping into an empty refrigerator box.
