According to TrueCrimeReport.com, Skinner killed Watkins due to a custody dispute between Watkins and Webster over Skinner's great-granddaughter.

This is the third time in recent months that Investigation Discovery has told the stories of local/regional murders on national television. The series 'Happily Never After' aired an episode about Hannibal murder victim Sandy Fugate in August. Last month, the debut episode of 'Beauty Queen Murders' featured the 1985 murder case of Nixa, Missouri beauty queen Jackie Johns.

'Elder Skelter' will debut on November 6 at 9 p.m. Central Time. The Steven Watkins story will air as part of the program on November 20.

Each episode of ELDER SKELTER tells real-life tales of when a person's twilight years turn murderously dark - from a social security-loving, granny two-some who kill for money to a couple who decide the best way to celebrate a golden anniversary is ending the marriage...forever. Episodes contain two stories, each interlaced with recreations, expert commentary from local authorities and true-crime experts, as well as first-person accounts from friends and family of the victims." - investigation.discovery.com
