Another Dogwood Festival is in the history books. We hope everyone had a great weekend, and had a great time at the parade and the festival, despite the slight rain delay for live music on Saturday night.

#Quincy175 was the theme of this year's Dogwood Parade, to coincide with the yearlong celebration of Quincy's 175th anniversary. The people in our area are so talented, and there were a number of really terrific floats in the parade, but only three were chosen for the Mary Lou Kenth Theme Award, the Governor's Award and the Mayor's Award. The following floats were winners in this year's parade.

MARY LOU KENT THEME AWARD

WINNER: Hope Lutheran Church

The float featured a rocket and a banner with the words “Quincy churches celebrating 175 years and launching into the future.

GOVERNOR’S AWARD

WINNER: Kiwanis Clubs of Quincy

Kiwanis members are raising money toward an all-inclusive playground, and thus their float had a playground on it with children playing on it.

MAYOR'S AWARD

WINNER: Quincy University Aviation Club

The QU Aviation Club won this award last year, and this year, their float had an airplane flying over the city of Quincy with “175” in skywriting.
